Statutes

Deed of foundation

The Enetjärn Nature Foundation was established through a deed in which Anders and Susan Enetjärn endowed the foundation with an independent capital on 17 June 2025.

The foundation’s statutes consist of ten articles. The most relevant articles for the foundation’s donors and partners are the following:

§ 1 Purpose

a) The foundation’s purpose is to promote initiatives that contribute to the recognition and advancement of biodiversity as an integral part of decision making in politics and business. The foundation operates both nationally and internationally.

b) The foundation is based on the premise that informed decisions in politics and business that counteract the underlying drivers of biodiversity loss are desirable. Such decisions strengthen efforts to protect and restore nature, and make visible and internalize the value of nature.

c) In line with the purpose outlined above, the foundation supports and develops initiatives that have the potential to influence decision-makers and change societal norms regarding humanity’s relationship with nature.

§ 3 Use of Funds

a) Both the returns on the foundation’s assets and the donated capital itself may be used to fulfill the foundation’s purpose. When using the donated capital, the requirements of the Swedish Foundation Act regarding permanence must be observed.

b) The board shall strive for a tax-efficient approach when promoting the foundation’s purpose, without compromising on fulfilling said purpose, which shall always take precedence over tax considerations.

§ 4 Investment of Assets

a) The foundation may invest in unlisted assets and own subsidiaries. It may also own and manage land to promote biodiversity, always in line with the overarching aim of influencing decision-making in politics and business.

b) The board is responsible for ensuring that the foundation’s other assets are acceptably invested. Investments shall be made in accordance with planetary sustainability and ethical responsibility.

c) The board should establish an investment policy outlining the desired risk profile. The policy should be reviewed as needed, ideally once a year, in consultation with the person responsible for financial management.

§ 5 Additional Gifts and Fundraising

a) The foundation shall actively seek donations and is entitled to conduct fundraising activities.

b) Contributions to the foundation may be added to either the restricted capital or to the unrestricted capital available for the foundation’s operations, based on the donor’s intent.

§ 7 Auditor

a) The foundation shall have an auditor, who must be authorized or approved. The auditor is appointed and dismissed by the board and may be appointed for a fixed term or indefinitely.

Enetjärn Nature Foundation aims to promote initiatives that make the valuation of biodiversity a natural part of decision-making in politics and business internationally. We therefore support initiatives that have the potential to be relevant to decision-makers and that, through informed decisions, can change norms regarding humanity’s relationship with nature.
